Canton Public Safety Temporary Traffic Regulation for Special Conditions
Due to the Liberty Fest Fireworks and the Canton Liberty Run, the Director of Canton Police Services has issued an emergency traffic order in accordance with the Uniform Traffic Code for Cities, Townships and Villages, R28.1127, Rule 27, ordering the following:
- Effective Friday, June 16, 2023, from 10:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., Canton Center Road will be closed between Cherry Hill and Palmer Roads; AND, eastbound Palmer Road between Canton Center and Sheldon will be closed.
- Effective Friday, June 16, 2023, from 7 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., Summit Parkway will be closed between Canton Center Road and Glengarry Blvd.
- AND, effective Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m., the following roads will be closed to through traffic for the Canton Liberty Run:
- Southbound Canton Center Road at Palmer Road
- Northbound Canton Center Road at the Rouge River bridge
- East & westbound Summit Parkway between Veterans Way & Canton Center Road
- Southbound Sheldon at Woodmont East
- Northbound Sheldon at the Rouge River bridge
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
Additional TRAFFIC NOTES FROM FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS:
- Friday, June 16: Starting as early as 6 p.m., Veterans Way, Heritage Drive and Summit Parkway near Heritage Park will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Canton's beautiful Heritage Park is located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road, Canton, MI 48188. This 105-acre park can be found at the corner of Heritage Park Road and Veterans Way. A map of the Festival Grounds (PDF) is now available.
PARKING
Plenty of free parking is also available in the surrounding parking lots, which provide easy access to the Festival grounds.
Please note that for safety purposes: parking is not permitted at the Fire Station or Police Station. We appreciate your cooperation.
- Lots A & C: Located off of Heritage Park Drive
- Lot F: Permit Parking ONLY, off of Veterans Way behind Canton Administration Building
- Lot G: Canton Public Library, located at 1200 S. Canton Center Road
- Lot H: Located adjacent to Splash Playground off of Sentinal and Veteran's Way
- Lot I: Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway
Additional parking will also be available at the Trinity Health Medical Center's parking lot, located at 1600 S. Canton Center Road:
- Friday, June 16 after 4 p.m.
- Saturday, June 17 all-day

FROM THE ANN ARBOR AREA:
M-14 east to the Ford Road exit, head east to Canton Center Road, head south on Canton Center Road to Heritage Park Drive, head west on Heritage Park Drive. Liberty Fest parking is available on Heritage Park Drive.

US-23 to I-94 east to Belleville Road north, this will turn into Canton Center Road when you cross Michigan Ave (US-12), follow to Heritage Park Drive, head west on Heritage Park Drive. Liberty Fest parking is available on the south side of the road.
FROM THE PORT HURON AREA:
I-94 west to I-696 west to I-275 south to the Ford Road exit, head west on Ford Road to Canton Center Road, head south on Canton Center to Heritage Park Drive, head west on Heritage Park Drive. Liberty Fest parking is available on the south side of the road.
FROM THE DETROIT AREA:
I-96 west to I-275 south to the Ford Road exit, head west on Ford Road to Canton Center Road, head south on Canton Center to Heritage Park Drive, head west on Heritage Park Drive. Liberty Fest parking is available on the south side of the road.
